ITS warning: ‘July 6 phish email alert’

Jul. 7, 2011 by Adrian Cooke

Alumni and other members of the Wesleyan community, please be advised of the following ITS alert that was issued yesterday, July 6:

Many faculty, staff and students received a phishing email today with the subject lune [sic] Wesleyan University and a link to what appears to be a Wesleyan site, but is not. The body of the email requires information we would not request from our users.

We were able to react quickly to the email and block it from further entry. If you received it, please disregard the message and remember that we would not solicit such information from you.

To reiterate: Wesleyan University will never ask you to provide your password. Such request from anyone are likely to be attempts to gain your personal information for malicious purposes. If you have further questions, please reply in the comments or submit a support request.
